E2 – Proposition 19 And Real Property Transfers: What’s A Fiduciary To Do?

You saw the commercials. Proposition 19 was to be the salvation of senior citizens and natural disaster victims. But nobody was talking about the effect it would have on our children. And, for the professional fiduciary, Prop. 19 created a nightmare when the fiduciary must distribute a family residence or family investment property. This course overviews California’s property tax system and how property tax exclusions historically have worked. Then, we will take a deep dive on Prop. 19, and how the game has changed for professional fiduciaries. Finally, we examine current proper techniques for dealing with Prop. 19 and reducing fiduciary liability.
