EB 4 – We Are CalABLE – Financial Programs for the Disability Community

California Achieving a Better Life Experience (CalABLE) is a savings and investment plan offered by the state of California to individuals who developed a disability by age 26. Eligible individuals, family, friends, and employers can contribute up to $19,000 per year, and up to $100,000 total, without affecting eligibility for public disability benefits. CalABLE account owners who work can contribute even more to their accounts. Best of all, earnings on qualified withdrawals are federal and California state tax-free.

Anne Osborne, CalABLE Deputy Executive Director, has been with CalABLE since September 2019. She is directly responsible for the Outreach and Education efforts which has produced 13,000 accounts and $180M in assets under management. Her connection with the disability community includes being a Volunteer Coordinator at a local Equine Therapeutic Riding Facility for children with neurological impairments and having a nephew with autism. She shares a passion for the disability community and is committed to promoting the CalABLE program and knows the impact the program can have on the lives of people with disabilities.
