F4 – Modified Therapeutic Communities: An Evidenced Based Practice for Mental Illness

Psynergy Programs adopted a model of care 20 years ago that allows our agency to support individuals diagnosed with an SMI (severe mental illness), in the community with housing and clinical outpatient mental health services.  These services combined increases the level of recovery and stability outside of an acute hospitalization, with 24/7 support and supervision in a licensed board and care, with adjacent services steps away from where they reside.  MTC’s are an evidenced based practice that allows appropriate and necessary care for individuals living with severe mental illness, and many that have a secondary diagnosis of a substance use disorder.  This can include supporting individuals that are court ordered to receive treatement, LPS and SB43 conservatees, CARE Act clients, and ones that need longer term treatment options.
