Honorable Roger L. Lund has served as a Judge of the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura since his appointment by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2009. He initially joined the bench in 2008 as a Ventura Superior Court Commissioner, appointed by the judges of the court. He has heard probate, trust, conservatorship, guardianship, family law, civil harassment, domestic violence, small claims, unlawful detainer and criminal cases of all types. His current assignment is in probate, in which he has served since October 2018. From 1996 to his appointment to the bench in 2008, Judge Lund was an attorney and then principal at The Law Offices of Gose, Lechman and Lund in Camarillo, California. His law practice emphasized estate planning, probate, conservatorships, guardianships, trust administration, income, estate and gift taxation, real estate, and general business law.
For several years before leaving private practice, Judge Lund volunteered as a Ventura County Mock Trial Judge for annual high school competitions (which he continues to do), and as an Executive Committee Member of the Ventura County Bar Association, Probate and Estate Planning Section. Also during his years of private practice, Judge Lund volunteered with the St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital as Co-Chair of the Planned Giving Committee, served on President’s Council, and as Planning Committee Member and Co-Chair of the Foundation’s AThrough the Looking Glass – Estate Planning Symposium. In 2021, he was the keynote speaker at that Symposium, which continues to this day and is now sponsored by California Lutheran University.
